Recently, several members of the UWA Handball Club took part in the Australian Open Club Championships in Geelong, Victoria.

The team had a strong tournament, finishing in third place, with UWA student Amalie Froeland nominated as the best left back in the tournament in the All Star Team.

Amalie was also the third highest goal scorer in the tournament, with 33 goals to her name in the team’s bronze medal achievement.

UWA Handball players Lois Marty, Johanna Lepland, and Cecilie Ree-Pedersen also joined the WA squad.

The UWA Handball Club is based at the UWA Recreation and Fitness Centre, and host the Handball West State League each fortnight.

Club members have the opportunity to represent UWA at inter-varsity competitions such as Nationals.

Next semester, the club is looking to defend their medal in the Australian National Championships in Sydney.

In the meantime, UWA Handball always welcomes new players at all levels, training Wednesdays 6-7.30pm and Fridays 7.30-9pm at the UWA Fitness and Recreation Centre.
