West Coast Eagles rolled out their eighth debutant of the 2018 season against GWS with UWA student athlete Oscar Allen named in the final team.

Injuries in a number of key roles within the Eagles camp had seen Allen added to the list along with fellow debutant Daniel Venables and forward Nathan Vardy.

It will be a game to remember for the debutant, with strong tackling and clearances marking his immediate impact on the game.

One of Allen’s key highlights was his smother on UWA alumni Matt de Boer to stop a certain goal.

Allen was picked up by the Eagles with the 21st pick in last year’s national draft, after a standout season with West Perth.

The year before saw him win the Larke Medal as a key forward for WA’s under-18s.

His start to the season was pushed back by injury, and the majority of the season has seen him trialled in a defending role for East Perth in the WAFL.

Meanwhile, the in-demand Andrew Gaff was the standout player on the ground, winning possession for the Eagles in crucial moments.

The UWA student was one off his career high of 42 possessions to continue an excellent season that has seen him earmarked as one of the most promising midfield talents in the game.
