Nominations are now open until Friday 31st March 2017.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1984, employees are legally entitled to nominate and, if necessary, elect workplace health and safety representatives. The University has been divided into around 80 workplaces for this purpose.

Nominations are now being sought for 23 workplaces which are either vacant or the current representative's term expires at the end of March 2017.

Nominations are open to any current UWA employee who has been employed at the University or in a similar work capacity elsewhere for a minimum of two years. The Act provides for paid leave for up to five days for representatives to attend safety training. The role of a representative is to act on behalf of all employees and to liaise with management on safety and health matters. Representatives have the right to inspect any part of the workplace, to investigate all accidents and are expected to notify the employer of any hazardous situation. The term of office is two (2) years. A health and safety representative incurs no civil liability arising from their performance or failure to perform any function under the Act.

Nominated Workplaces - These workplaces either have no representation or the term of office for the named representative ceases in March 2017. Please see:
