The Hon Christian Porter MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, will deliver a public lecture at The University of Western Australia on Friday 28 August.

Presenting a lecture titled Magna Carta: Celebrating 800 Years of Law and Liberty, Mr Porter will reflect on the charter’s impact on personal freedoms and individual liberties.

Mr Porter previously served as a Minister in the State Government, variously holding portfolios of Attorney General, Minister for Corrective Services and Treasurer of Western Australia.

He has also worked as a lawyer in both the commercial and government settings, beginning his career at Clayton Utz and then later working as a Senior State Prosecutor for the Director of Public Prosecutions WA.

Mr Porter holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from UWA.

This public lecture is presented by the UWA Law School and UWA Business School.
