A book that tells a story of the social and technological changes the world has experienced over the last 40 years and how these changes have affected our everyday life has been launched at The University of Western Australia.

The Digital Apocalypse , written by David Groves, a well-known Australian geoscientist and former Professor (Personal Chair) and Director of the Key Centre for Strategic Mineral Deposits at UWA , deals with issues facing contemporary society through the experiences of its main characters.

Topics outlined in the book include life and love in a world of rapid sociological and technological change, an overpopulated world challenged by pollution and climate change, and a society fearful of religious and environmental extremism.

David Groves joined UWA in 1971.  Throughout his academic career he has published approximately 500 scientific papers and book chapters in journals published in the USA, UK, Germany and Australia.

He has been awarded numerous medals, was made a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences in 2003, and has been given the titles of Emeritus Professor and Honorary DSc from UWA.

The book is available for purchase online via Amazon , and also through the University's bookshop Co-ops and from Boffins, Perth.
