The University of Western Australia congratulates the outstanding members of its community for being recognised in this year's Australia Day honours.

Mark Barnaba and Anne McKenzie were among 824 Australians recognised on the Australia Day 2015 Honour List for their services to business and health.

Dr Barnaba was appointed a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia for "significant service to the investment banking and financial sectors, to business education, and to sporting and cultural organisations."

He is the Chairman of the UWA Business School board and an Adjunct Professor in Investment Banking and Finance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with first class honours from UWA and in 2012 received an Honorary Doctor of Commerce.

He is also the Chairman of Macquarie Group, Western Australia, Black Swan State Theatre Company and a non-executive director of Fortescue Metals Group. He is co-founder of Azure Capital and previously has been the Chairman of Western Power, Edge Employment Solutions and the West Coast Eagles Football Club.

Anne McKenzie was also appointed a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia for "significant service to community health through consumer advocacy roles and strategic policy research and development."

Ms McKenzie has worked as the consumer advocate at the Telethon Kids Institute where she helps increase community participation in health and medical research. She is also the consumer liaison officer in the School of Population Health at UWA.

UWA would also like to congratulate its alumni who received much deserved honours on Australia Day.
