The University of Western Australia is shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of life of those aboard Flight MH17.

UWA Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Johnson said the University was saddened that two of its international students from the United Kingdom were among those killed.

Richard Mayne, from Leicester, and Ben Pocock, from Bristol, were due to commence studies at UWA next week.

Perth businessman Nick Norris, who was also travelling on flight MH17 with his three grandchildren, was an Arts and Education graduate of UWA. He was also awarded a Graduate Diploma of Education.

“Our thoughts are with the families and friends of all those affected by this terrible tragedy,” Professor Johnson said.
