In the April school holidays, 25 talented young musicians in Years 11 and 12 descended on the School of Music - instruments in hand - to participate in "A Day in the Life of a Music Student"!

Students started the day with some aural training, then moved on to some vocal ensemble work before trying their hand at conducting! After watching senior undergraduate and postgraduate students perform, they mingled with current students over a BBQ lunch. The afternoon was spent rehearsing Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 with the UWA Symphonic Chorus - a classical piece the Chorus will be performing (among others) at the Perth Concert Hall in May as part of the Artistry! Collaboration program .

The day wrapped up with an energetic contemporary improvisation workshop, something many of the participants had never tried before! A good time was had by all and students went home with a valuable insight into the activities and variation involved in a typical day in the life of a UWA music student.

UWA Music students (including those studying first-year broadening units, right through to postgraduate level courses), regularly perform for fellow students and the general public at various events on and off-campus throughout the year. For full details, or to book tickets to upcoming performances, refer to the School of Music's Concerts webpage .
