Mitsubishi Development has become a Major Corporate Partner of The University of Western Australia's Business School with today's signing of a renewed sponsorship agreement valued at $350,000 for a further five years.

The Dean of the UWA Business School, Winthrop Professor Phil Dolan, said it would help build capacity in the Centre for Social Impact (UWA) and provide additional resources for teaching and research.

"We are pleased to be able to continue our association with Mitsubishi Development," he said.

"The continued support will allow the Centre for Social Impact (UWA) to continue to expand its research, teaching and community engagement activities in the area of social impact and investment.

"The Centre has made significant progress since its launch in 2009, including last year's inaugural conference and the award of the first Graduate Certificates in Social Impact."

The Managing Director and CEO of Mitsubishi Development, Mr Keisuke Hoshino, said Mitsubishi Development valued its partnership with the UWA Business School and was pleased to be able to support the School in its activities.

"This partnership is an important way in which we can contribute to business education, research and social impact in Western Australia," he said.

The agreement was formally renewed today at a signing ceremony at the UWA Business School.  It builds on a partnership created in an original 2008 sponsorship agreement, in which Mitsubishi Development was a Supporting Corporate Partner.

Mitsubishi Development is an Australian-based mining company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation with extensive coal mining joint venture projects in New South Wales and Queensland, and iron ore and uranium projects in Western Australia.
