The Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics would like to congratulate the team of eight staff members from the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering (Team EECE), who participated in the UWA Sports hike4hunger on Friday, 21 October.

hike4hunger participants took turns keeping the fitness centre treadmills running continuously all day long, raising money for The Hunger Project – a strategic, non-government organisation which works in partnership with rural people in Africa, India and Bangladesh to help end world hunger.

Team EECE collectively spent 4 hours and 2 minutes sweating it out on the treadmills, clocking up a total of 34.6km and raising a whopping $915. The team’s achievement represents two thirds of the $1,375 raised by UWA Sports in total.

Team EECE participants were:

  • Elouise Caldow - 30min - 6km
  • Rob Greenhalgh - 50min - 10km
  • John Jiang - 30min - 2.2km
  • Karen Kader - 30min - 3.1km
  • Brett Nener - 30min - 3km
  • Gia Parish - 30min - 4.1km
  • Anna Podolska - 30min - 3.2km
  • Balaji Sankarshanan - 30min - 3km

This is a fantastic effort from everyone involved.

Team EECE are still accepting donations and have raised a further $350 since the event, bringing their running total to $1,265. If you would like to donate, please visit https://bit.ly/vvyYyq
