At the annual Faculty Agenda Meeting, which took place on the 27th of July, the Vice-Chancellor Alan Robson addressed the most significant areas for the University in 2009:

  • Education,
  • Research and Research Training,
  • External Relations and Community Engagement,
  • People and Resources.

Vice-Chancellor Robson highlighted the importance of implementing the Future Framework. The new model should offer fewer courses, tailored for current demand.  In August he will announce when the new courses will commence.

He stated that faculty staff should focus on research performance, of which the most important components are publications (especially in high impact refereed journals) and received funding (ARC, NHMRC, industry and international sources).

This is the most challenging area, but very essential in terms of maintaining UWA's position in the top 100 universities in the world.

Vice-Chancellor Robson also encouraged academic staff to apply for more funding and scholarships coming from external sources.

He stressed that the University and our Faculty should continue to concentrate on income growth and diversification of income to succeed in our goals and he also talked about the new performance management system introduced by Human Resources and indicated that all staff should have a performance management review.

It was a great opportunity for the Faculty staff to see the strategic directions for UWA and our Faculty.
