Former Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor of The University of Western Australia, Professor Margaret Seares AO, has been appointed to a new national body to provide strategic advice on research infrastructure funding.

She is one of seven women appointed to the 11-member National Research Infrastructure Committee which includes some of Australia's leading researchers and scientists.

The committee will advise the Federal Government on spending on research infrastructure, including the ‘Super Science' initiatives that encompass space science and astronomy; marine and climate science; and future industries initiatives, as well as in the future direction of the national policy agenda for funding research infrastructure.
