National Indigenous Tertiary Education Student Games (NITESG).
Team UWA is ready to bring
the best form the west, with team members from nationally-ranked to first-time competitors
training over the winter to get ready for the 2014 Australian University Games
(28 September to 3 October) in Sydney, New South Wales.
In challenging wind conditions on Lago di Ledro, Italy, UWA students Sam Gilmour (skipper), Steve Thomas, Adam Negri and Chris Smith have won the silver medal at the 7th World University Match Racing Championships. The team represented Australia as part of a four-team contingent from Australia (2 open teams and 2 women's teams) and were defending the title after winning in Nice, France in 2012.
UWA Arts and Law student and recipient of the 2013 Prime Minister's Australia Asia Scholarship, Elliott Clutterbuck, who is currently a visiting scholar to Tsinghua University School of Law (China) has become something of a celebrity in China's badminton world.
After starting off the year strong with wins at the Mid-West Championships and local competitions, UWA students Tarquin Betuel and Lukas Kuster have claimed medals at the 2014 ITF Taekwon-Do Australian National Championships.

five gold medals and one silver in a display of discipline, skills and sportsmanship.

$1 million equipment upgrade to its Recreation and Fitness Centre at The
University's Crawley campus.A $100,000
investment toward the latest milestone has seen the installation of 18 new
machines in the facility, including treadmills, cross trainers, incumbent bikes
and a grinding machine.
