Alexander McBride Kerr occupied many roles over his 97 years: great grandfather, journalist, RAAF pilot, prisoner of war, consultant to the United Nations and foreign governments– and at one point, Dean of UWA’s Faculty of Economics and Commerce – to name a few.
The University of Western Australia has been ranked first in WA in the subjects of Business & Economics, Social Sciences, and Education in the global Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject, released today.
Two UWA professors were recently elected as Fellows to the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the health and medical research landscape in Australia.
UWA Summer School is back for the next summer season.
Running from late November 2018 through to early February 2019, Summer School will offer students and the wider community an exciting range of units to choose from over the summer break.
Designed to increase flexibility in learning, Summer School is taught in intensive teaching periods of four to six weeks. There will be nearly 60 units on offer, following last year’s popular program that had almost 1400 enrolments.
Australia’s Population Health Research Network (PHRN) was established in 2009 and Chief Executive Dr Merran Smith will be the first to attest that it’s very fitting UWA is the lead agency.
With a long history in linking data, WA is at the forefront of this field, and this was reinforced when Dr Smith was recently named as incoming Director of the International Population Data Linkage Network.
