Twenty two Aboriginal students are currently attending in Study Abroad programs in Chile and Washington DC, USA.  These students are all enrolled in the unit, Indigenous Ways of Knowing (INDG3800) which was offered for the first time this year. The trip will be a chance for the students to explore comparative issues of Indigenous Ways of Knowing within the Mapuche and American Indian Indigenous cultures.

Congratulations to Kamsani Bin Salleh, whose production team won two awards at the annual Faculty of Arts' Media and Communication showcase 2014 for their short film "Billy and the Fridge' - the Multimedia Centre Award for Best Production, and The Chair of Media and Communication Award for Most Innovative Film. 

The film was produced for the COMM3002 Communication Studies Project unit, semester 2 2014. The showcase was held at Somerville Auditorium on November 20 and it featured the 10 best films produced in the unit this year.

In 2016 the School of Indigenous Studies will be moving to a brand new facility, just south of the Old Pharmacology Building alongside Prescott Court. Thank you to all the students that participated in our survey about the type of facility you want built. Law, medicine, education, sports science - these are just some of the careers in the sights of 26 year 11 and 12 Indigenous students who are giving up part of their school holidays to come to The University of Western Australia for a WACE revision camp starting on Sunday and ending on Friday 18 July.
