New research related to mining and energy will be presented at a half-day seminar to be held at The University of Western Australia this Friday 27 June.

Subjects to be discussed include the costs of steelmaking, corporate governance compliance in mining IPOs (Initial Public Offerings), an analysis of energy consumption and carbon emissions in Asian giants China and India and the inherent bias of The Economist magazine's Big Mac Index as a predictor of future currency movements.

Expert speakers include Professor Ken Clements, Director of the Economic Research Centre at UWA and Professor Raymond da Silva Rosa, Director of the WA Centre for Capital Markets Research at the UWA Business School.  The seminar will be chaired by Dr David Butler, Discipline Chair and Senior Lecturer at the UWA Business School.

Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss the research with presenters.

Organised by the UWA Business School, the seminar is supported by the Financial Integrity Research Network (FIRN) which is offering five travel scholarships for eligible PhD students and younger researchers of associated institutions.

Registration in advance is essential.  For more information, contact Mei Han, Conference Coordinator at [email protected] (08 6488 3967) or visit the UWA Business School website at https://www.business.uwa.edu.au/
