Alinta Scholarship Recipient

After extensive interviews conducted by the Business School and with Shaun Duffy representing scholarship partner Alinta, Christopher Coates has been announced as the successful applicant.

Christopher, a Bachelor of Commerce and Law candidate was a House Prefect at Hale, and was in a team that reached the UWA finals in the UBS Investment Bank competition. Additionally he has had internships and work experience with Barrington Partners, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Ernst and Young, and with KPMG as a Law Clerk.

Described as a ‘good all rounder' by Professor Izan, Deputy Dean of the UWA Business School, Christopher is also active in a variety of sporting activities and is a worthy recipient of the Alinta Scholarship.

This scholarship would not be possible without Alinta, a UWA Business School supporter. . Christopher begins his scholarship in 2008.

Resource Capital Funds Scholarship Recipient

Mr Omar Sharif Soliman, a final year Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Systems) student, is the inaugural recipient of the Resource Capital Funds Scholarship. The scholarship was designed to support a Business School student with an interest in the mining industry and looking to gain financial and leadership skills.

Omar Sharif Soliman is a worthy winner, boasting an outstanding academic record, he has won prizes from the Institute of Engineers (2000), University Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement in 2003, top student in Introduction to Finance in 2003, AusIMM Award for academic excellence for top student enrolled in second year mining systems engineering in 2006, WA Mining Club prize for highest scoring student in mining-related disciplines and top student in 2006 and top student in HRM 2227 in 2006.
