The Winthrop Society was launched in March this year. The event was hosted by the Chancellor, Dr Michael Chaney AO and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alan Robson AM. The Honorary Patrons of the Society are all former Chancellors; Dr Donald Aitken AO, Clinical Professor Alex Cohen AO, The Honorable Geoffrey Kennedy AO and His Excellency Dr Ken Michael AC.

The Society recognises senior graduates, friends and supporters of UWA and honours those individuals who have pledged future support for the University through a gift in their Will. Winthrop Society members are invited to participate in the life of the University by attending significant events. Each year, the Chancellor will host an event where members will be invited to meet with Faculty Deans, tour university schools and centres, meet staff and receive updates on the University’s programmes, challenges and achievements.

Professor Mark Bush, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, hosted a morning tea for Winthrop Society members on Monday 17 September. Members in attendance caught up with former colleagues, toured the research and teaching facilities and interacted with staff and researchers.
