The Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics would like to congratulate Mr Rahul Khubchandani on recently being awarded the Engineers Australia 2008 Russell Dumas Medal.

The Russell Dumas Medal first awarded in 1970, is awarded to an engineering student with the best academic performance in their final year at The University of Western Australia.

Rahul recently completed his undergraduate course at UWA, including a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance). He is currently working for Wesfarmers at the corporate office in Perth, as a Graduate Analyst in the Business Development Team, which recently undertook the major acquisition of the Coles Group.

He believes engineering at UWA is an extremely versatile degree to study, which providing the right amount of practical and theoretical grounding to place students in good stead whether they want to pursue a career in an academic or commercial field. “Employers are constantly looking for engineering students to fill both engineering and non-engineering roles due to the diverse skill set they acquire during their studies”.
Rahul greatly enjoyed his time studying at UWA, and strongly encourages future students to make the most of their time at university and not let extracurricular opportunities pass them by. “Make sure you don’t look back on your university years and regret not doing something - it’s a once in a lifetime experience”.
