The University of Western Australia will be replacing the current complex structure of multiple, different degree choices with a streamlined structure of just a small number of three-year undergraduate courses. A fourth (Honours) year will still be available to suitably qualified students.  All fields of study that UWA currently covers will continue to be offered under the new structure, though in different forms.

The University’s Academic Council has now endorsed the new undergraduate courses in outline, and faculties are currently developing the details of structure and content.

Students will be able to study professional courses at the postgraduate level, via sequential pathways.  Some places will be guaranteed for outstanding Year 12 students who have high TERs, and there will be additional opportunities for students to apply for their preferred professional postgraduate course based on their undergraduate performance.

Future Framework undergraduate degree programs

Under the new Framework, the University will offer the following undergraduate degrees:

  • Bachelor of Arts (three-year)
  • Bachelor of Commerce (three-year)
  • Bachelor of Design (three-year)
  • Bachelor of Science (three-year)
  • Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) (four-year)

Questions or comments about any aspect of the Future Framework implementation should be sent to Professor Ian Reid.
