Four outstanding postgraduates at Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology in China were awarded a Dongke Zhang Scholarship by W/Prof Dongke Zhang FTSE on 15 October 2010.

The Dongke Zhang Scholarships were established early in 2010 by W/Professor Dongke Zhang FTSE and The Zhangs Family Trust to recognise and reward outstanding postgraduate research students, currently enrolled at Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology.

Dr Ela Eroglu will present her latest research from the University of California at Berkeley about "Algal Hydrocarbon Production: Method Development for Product Extraction and Quantitation" at the Bioenergy Forum on Tuesday 2nd November 2010.  

Dr. Ela Eroglu is one of the newest researchers to join the UWA - Centre for Energy. Ela completed her Postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley on algal biofuels, following her PhD Degree in Chemical Engineering (METU, Turkey) on biohydrogen production by utilization of agricultural wastes.

Australia China Young Scientist Exchange Program (YSEP)

Associate Professor Xiaolin Wang recently attended the Australia China Young Scientist Exchange Program (YSEP) Showcasing Event at the Australia Pavilion, Shanghai World Expo where he met with other past representatives and this year’s Australia Young Scientists from program.

While at the expo, Xiaolin participated on a panel discussion about the past achievements and the future development of the YSEP program.

Last week, W/Professor Dongke Zhang was invited by the Federation of Chinese Scholars in Australia (FOCSA) to give a plenary speech at The 3rd Australia –China Symposium on Science, Technology and Education.

The Symposium aims to foster stronger links between Australian and Chinese universities and industries by providing a forum for exchange of ideas and networking among representatives from governments, academia, industrial and research organizations.
