University staff have received national awards for Excellence in Teaching in the social sciences and indigenous education.

Winthrop Professor Stephen Houghton of the Graduate School of Education has been recognised for his contributions to education and a team from the School of Indigenous Studies and Law School received the Neville Bonner Award for Indigenous Education.

The team comprised Mel Thomas , Winthrop Professor Richard Bartlett , Professor Jill Milroy and Winthrop Professor Neil Morgan .

Vice-Chancellor Alan Robson said the awards were a significant individual achievement for the staff and a reflection of the University's ongoing commitment to teaching and learning.

The awards winners will be recognised in a national award ceremony at Parliament House in Canberra in late November.
