GMA Dinner takes flight with Sir Rod

This year's GMA Dinner sponsored by BankWest (24 March at University Club) with Sir Rod Eddington was a great success. The evening started out with a ‘video link' from President Brenna Pavey, who was in the Caribbean for the World Cup Cricket. Business School Dean Tracey Horton followed with some words about the status of the fundraising campaign, new building, and the future of the Business School. GMA Vice President Jo Pownall was awarded the Charles Harper Prize which was presented by Margaret Harper.

Universita Bocconi Exchange – a Trip of Lifetime!

As part of my full-time MBA, I decided to take the opportunity to study overseas via the student exchange program at Universita Bocconi in Milan, Italy. It was the experience of a lifetime and for six months I lived, studied, traveled, ate and shopped like an Italian!

The former Graduate School of Management (GSM) received a high commendation for its teaching and learning in the UWA bi-annual distinguished teaching and learning awards for schools in 2006. The GSM was runner up to the Humanities School in a field of eight schools and this is indeed an outstanding result for the former GSM. Congratulations to all staff involved.

Ray da Silva Rosa was promoted to Professor within the Financial Studies discipline. Ray is Director of the WA Centre for Capital Markets Research. He is on the editorial Board of the Australian Accounting Review and on the Scientific Committee of the Portuguese Finance Network. He is also President of the UWA Academic Staff Association.

Scholarship Deadline

The Business School recently reviewed a number of applicants for new scholarships including the new Resource Capital Funds Scholarship and the Stan and Jean Perron Honours Scholarship. These scholarships offer some great opportunities for students in the Business School.

The Resource Capital Funds Scholarship, worth $10,000, is available to selected Economics and Commerce students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, who have an interest in resources and mining.
