One of the State’s top mining executives, a former Australian cricketer and educator and a world-leading breast cancer surgeon are among 18 graduates and three staff members of The University of Western Australia who have been recognised in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
The Faculty of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences would like to congratulate Dr Maxim Goryachev, who on April 10 was awarded the European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF) Young Scientist Award 2018 at the 32nd European Frequency and Time Forum in Turin, Italy.
UWA’s dynamic innovation community joined forces last Thursday at the annual IQ Awards held in the refurbished Nedlands Masonic Hall, known as Innovation Quarter Exchange or IQX, to celebrate four winners and creative inventions to improve our world.
An invention to monitor leukemia cells in the blood, methods to develop better medicines with fewer side-effects and an app to help school students develop skills for the future workplace were big winners at this year’s University of Western Australia IQ Awards.
The University of Western Australia’s archivist has been honoured for her years of dedicated service preserving and promoting UWA’s history by being awarded the Convocation Medal, an award to a member of Convocation who has made a significant and sustained contribution to Convocation, the University and the community.
