The Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Education celebrated the success of Next Gen Resources, a team of four UWA Master of Business Administration (MBA) Flexible students who were recently awarded first place at the seventh annual Schulich International Case Competition on 23 February 2019, held at the Schulich School of Business, Toronto, Canada.

Three UWA graduates awarded Fulbright Scholarships

A marine science postgraduate, an international relations graduate and one of Australia’s brightest young female entrepreneurs have been awarded Fulbright scholarships for 2019, joining a prestigious global group that includes Nobel Laureates and Pulitzer Prize winners.

Joshua Dunne completed a Bachelor of Philosophy with Honours in Political Science and International Relations at UWA and is currently working as a Study Abroad Assistant in UWA’s Global Learning Office.

Shuan Hern Lee takes out first prize in New Zealand!

Shuan Hern Lee has once again made the AMEB proud by winning the title in the Under 28 category at the International Piano Competition in Kerikeri, New Zealand. At only 16, he is the youngest performer to win this title, since the competition started in 1987.

Of the 69 entrants, only 15 candidates were selected to compete at Kerikeri.

After Round 1 and 2, only 4 out of the 15 competitors progressed to the final round. The three adjudicators, who were from the USA, Australia and South Korea, were unanimous in their decision to select Shuan Hern as the first prize winner.

Future Maths Stars Compete at UWA

On Saturday 27 October, over 420 future maths stars came together at The University of Western Australia for the 2018 Western Australian Junior Mathematics Olympiad (WAJO). 110 teams of year 7, 8 and 9 students from 25 Perth schools competed to solve a range of mathematical problems and vie for over $2,000 worth of prizes. The number of students who attended the event was an impressive increase over 2017, representing the growing popularity of maths amongst Perth students.
