An exhibition presented by the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at The University of Western Australia (open Saturday 7 October until Saturday 16 December) provides new insights into the mutiny, murder and feats of survival surrounding the infamous Batavia shipwreck, through the eyes of archaeologists, scientists and artists.
Fifteen year old Shuan Hern Lee has once again made the AMEB proud, this time winning
first prize in the Palmadoro International Piano Competition for Age 35 and Under, in Finale Ligure, Italy. He was also awarded the gold medal for the youngest finalist in this competition, where he competed against other concert pianists and professional musicians from Poland, Italy, Russia and Japan, all aged in their 20s and 30s.
Congratulations to Melody Kelly on winning the AMEB award at the Geraldton Music Festival 2017. She performed "In the Eyes of a Tiger" and also entered and won the Modern Piano Solo Preliminary playing "Big Beat".
Melody attends the Geraldton Grammar School and is taught music privately.
