I am writing to let you know that, after a great deal of reflection, I informed the Chancellor over the weekend of my decision to decline the offer from Senate to renew my contract for a further five-year term; I therefore intend to retire from the Vice-Chancellorship at the end of this year.
The University of Western Australia and the Perth USAsia Centre have welcomed the return of former federal defence minister Kim Beazley to his alma mater after serving as Australia’s Ambassador to the United States for six years.
The School of Population Health welcomes the return of Professor Bruce Armstrong as Adjunct Professor. Prof Armstrong is a significant person in the disciplines of epidemiology and public health, both on the international stage and in the history of the disciplines at UWA. He has been the colleague, supervisor and mentor of some of our top WA and UWA Pubic Health professors, including Professor Michael Hobbs, Professor D’Arcy Holman and Professor Fiona Stanley.
The Head of The University of Western Australia’s School of Population Health, Professor Colleen Fisher, has been appointed the new President, and Chairperson of the National Executive, for the Council of Academic Public Health Institutions Australia (CAPHIA).
