Last Wednesday, the School of Earth and Environment and Geoscience Foundation welcomed guests to a sundowner at the Edward de Courcy Clarke Earth Science Museum to acknowledge the generous donation of 12 state-of-the-art microscopes, used in teaching and by research staff and students.
Andrew and Nicola Forrest today announced the first recipients of the prestigious Forrest Research Foundation Scholarships – with the five recipients flying in from around the world to accept their scholarship.
Tiffany Garvie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with majors in English and Classics and Ancient History in March 2007. Tiffany is currently the Education and Community Projects Project Officer at Melbourne’s Museum Victoria where she has been for four years. Apart from writing poetry and songs, she has also been a breakfast broadcaster and journalist at 6AR Noongar Radio, 4AAA Murri Country in Brisbane and ABC Radio Breakfast Presenter in Orange.
The Faculty of Education held its Annual Prize Giving Ceremony last night at The University Club (11 May 2015) where 100 guests were present to recognise excellence and the achievements of past and present students.
In attendance was the State Education Minister and current UWA Alumni, Hon Peter Collier together with UWA representatives and leaders within the community who kindly donated and provided their support for the event.
Emeritus Professor Bruce Armstrong from the University of Sydney's School of Public Health visited UWA's School of Population Health in April. Professor Armstrong is a significant person in the history of epidemiology and public health at UWA, and has been the colleague, supervisor and mentor of some of our top WA and UWA public health professors - including E/Professor Michael Hobbs, E/Professor D'Arcy Holman and Professor Fiona Stanley.
The Westerly Centre is happy to announce that Dr Catherine Noske has just joined The University of Western Australia as the new editor of Westerly magazine.
Dr Noske joins Westerly from Monash University where she completed a PhD in creative writing last year. She has held a Residential Fellowship at Varuna (National Writers' House), won the A.D. Hope Prize of the Association for the Study of Australian Literature, and was a Visiting Research Scholar in the Writing Programme at Warwick University, UK.
