New units tackle world futures

Integrated Human Studies units developed at UWA will examine the complex problems facing the world this century, and tap into the energy of incoming students.

The first-year units 'Humanity in the 21st Century' and ‘Human Action for World Futures' complement and give context to a variety of degree paths. Both units provide broad cross-disciplinary understanding and skills.

Last month, the UWA Business School was abuzz with creative thinking from 100 WA secondary students.

Working in teams named after famous capital cities of the world, the students analyzed, questioned and formulated answers and opinions to develop business strategies for the Claremont Quarter.

Being a student at UWA provides you with the foundations and support to be able to take on absolutely anything. When an interesting idea or possibly rewarding concept comes to mind, you should take hold of it and run, run, run!

That's exactly what a group of seven UWA students did last semester when planning a week-long cultural awareness trip to the Pilbara. Here, second year Engineering/Arts student Alex Thornton (pictured, second from left) shares with us her experiences of the trip.
