Having spent much of the last 25 years working for The University of Western Australia, Mark Stickells will soon be leaving the organisation to take up the role of Director of the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre. Mark’s last day at UWA will be 22 June 2018.
The HBF Run for a Reason is on Sunday and there will be a number of roads closed in the morning including Mounts Bay Rd (from Point Lewis to Hackett Dr) and Hackett Dr (from Mounts Bay Rd to Australia II Dr).
UWA’s dynamic innovation community joined forces last Thursday at the annual IQ Awards held in the refurbished Nedlands Masonic Hall, known as Innovation Quarter Exchange or IQX, to celebrate four winners and creative inventions to improve our world.
Congratulations to Dr Vanessa Russ for her appointment onto the Art Gallery of WA Board. Dr Russ is the Associate Director of the Berndt Museum where she focuses on the importance of this museum to create a dynamic facility for all Australians to learn about the first peoples, while engaging young Australian Aboriginal people in new ways of accessing cultural knowledge.
The Isabelle Lake Memorial Lecture is an annual collaboration between the University of Western Australia and the Equal Opportunity Commission of Western Australia. It honours the work and achievements of the late Ms Isabelle Lake, a young trans rights activist, former employee of the Commission, and a University of Western Australia student. These lectures aim to honour Ms Lake’s work and draw attention to the issues faced by transsexual, transgender, intersex and gender diverse people.
