Perth International Arts Festival wins Helpmann Award for Best Special Event

Perth International Arts Festival is delighted to have received a Helpmann Award for Best Special Event and a further 13 prestigious Helpmann Award nominations for artists and performers at the 2015 Festival.

The nominations were announced last night in Sydney, and included the Best Special Event Helpmann for The Incredible and Phenomenal Journey of The Giants to the Streets of Perth by Royal de Luxe, which opened the 2015 Perth International Arts Festival.

Human Resources wishes to advise that the 2014/2015 Payment Summaries (Group Certificate) will be available in the Employee Self Service (ESS) from Friday, 3 July 2015.

All staff wishing to print their payment summary via the ESS are asked to pay careful attention to the printing instructions outlined on the payment summary screen. These instructions define the requirements for self-printed payment summaries as outlined by the ATO (Australian Taxation Office).

The University of Western Australia is committed to the ongoing development of professional and general staff, as demonstrated through the increase to funding to the Staff Development Grants to $200,000 in 2014. Individual professional and general staff are now able apply for grants of up to $1,500 to support professional development activities (up to $3,000 for technical-related development).

Badminton has opened a lot of doors for UWA law student, Elliott Clutterbuck. 

Elliott first picked up a racquet at the age of nine, inspired by his mother who played at a competitive level in England. Now he is among nine UWA students have been selected to represent Australia as part of the Uniroos team at the 28th Summer Universiade in Gwangju, Korea, from 3 to 14 July 2015.

The UWA campus in winter is too cold, too quiet and too empty. It was this common complaint that led UWA Cultural Precinct Director Ted Snell to organise the first WINTERarts events back in 2009.
“We wanted to celebrate the arts in WA and give people a reason to come onto our campus during the winter break. In the beginning we weren’t sure if anyone would even show up, but the response has been outstanding, with many shows selling out almost as soon as they’re announced,” Ted says.
