The award was given in recognition of excellence in the application of science and technology for the economic, social and environmental benefit of Australia.
Successful applications for a range of Internal and External competitive grant schemes are available through Debbie Thackray (Faculty Research Development Officer) and the Research Development Office team. These can be extremely useful in guiding researchers in developing their own applications.
The objective of FAST(French Australian Science and Technology Program) is to promote and support scientific and technological cooperation between Australian and French researchers from public and private institutions or enterprises. Funding support is for travel and living expenses for French or Australian researchers to visit each other's institutions. For Round 7, the focus includes: Materials, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).
A number of people make outstanding contributions to the University in a variety of ways. It is the wish of the Senate that the contributions of these people should be recognised through the award of a Chancellor's Medal.
After five years as the Head of the School of Civil and Resource Engineering and a very productive career as a researcher and teacher at The University of Western Australia, Winthrop Professor Andrew Deeks will sadly be leaving the Faculty to take up a position as Pro Vice Chancellor (Science) at Durham University in the United Kingdom commencing October 1.
