Professor Akshay Venkatesh, believed to be one of The University of Western Australia’s youngest graduates, is only the second Australian to have been awarded one of the world’s most prestigious mathematical awards – the Fields Medal.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Community & Engagement (DVC C&E)

I write to advise that Professor Kent Anderson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Community and Engagement has elected not to seek an extension to his current term and return to his family in Canberra. 

Kent will finish at UWA on 31 December 2018. Kent has said he “is looking forward to recharge and is super excited about exploring an unconventional and innovative direction in his future career.”

Senior Technician Graeme Warburton never planned to work at UWA for very long. In 1982, while visiting from Sydney, he turned down a two-year contract working on an automated sheep shearing machine. However, after accepting a shorter six-month contract in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, he was hooked – and 36 years later, he’s still at UWA.
