The Faculty Strategic Review continues to make significant progress, with most of the review areas about to publish their issues papers and commence work on the development of options, principles and plans for addressing these options and achieveing our vision for the future.
Staff are encouraged to continue participating and contributing to the review. Your ideas and information are essential to understanding the issues the Faculty faces, the areas we can improve, and planning options for the future.
Following discussions with the Co-Chairs of the Strategic Review 2009 and the ECM Summit, a minor change has been made to the review process.
This change will ensure wide and open consultation whilst making the review process more efficient, and to ensure that the valuable input from the Faculty is received without significant burden on current workloads.
The Education Co-Chairs, James Trevelyan and Gordon Royle, are asking staff in the Faculty involved in teaching to complete a short survey. This survey is designed to provide information to the Co-Chairs on the way that teaching is completed in the Faculty.
Progress on the Strategic Review 2009 continues to be made in the Faculty, with three of the Review Area Co-Chairs preparing to release their issues paper to the Faculty. These issues papers will form the basis for considering future options for the Faculty, and are designed to stimulate conversation in the Faculty over ways to address the issues identified.

Staff in the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics are invited to make submissions to the Strategic Review 2009.
As part of the ongoing review process, all staff (both professional and academic) have the opportunity to make submissions to any or all parts of the review, offering an additional opportunity to contribute to the future direction of the Faculty.
The Research Strategic Review Area Co-Chairs, Professor Cheryl Praeger and Professor Mark Randolph, are holding their second open scoping workshop for the Strategic Review 2009. This workshop is aimed at Level C, D and E Faculty Academic Staff, and Faculty Professional Staff who are involved in research at this level.
An online forum has been launched for the Research Strategic Review Area. This will allow staff to continue the discussions surrounding research, and will provide a valuable input into the Research Co-Chairs.
The Strategic Review 2009 is now well underway in the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, with a large amount of data currently being collected and provided to the Co-Chairs, and a number of workshops planned or completed.
