Math Stars Shine at UWA

On Saturday 28 October, over 370 future maths stars came together at UWA for the 2017 Western Australian Junior Mathematics Olympiad (WAJO). 97 teams of year 7, 8 and 9 students from 24 Perth schools competed to solve a range of mathematical problems and vie for over $3,500 worth of prizes.

Micah Kickett graduated from Arts/Law in March this year and is now working in a graduate position with the Department of Attorney General and Justice in Darwin. Recently Micah competed and won the Northern Territory Golden Gavel competition with a presentation on ‘Ten tips to succeed in the law without really trying’.

The historical Masonic Hall sits on Broadway at the eastern entrance to the University of Western Australia. Works have begun on its restoration for use as a Graduate Innovation Hub and it is anticipated the project will be completed in February 2018. Convocation has accepted the role as a Foundation Sponsor with a contribution of $100,000 in 2017 recently approved by Convocation Council.
