Good morning. I was delighted to experience a real buzz about the University last week with many students on campus taking part in O-Week activities. Thank you to all staff for the efforts you have made to welcome new members to the UWA community. These events are a wonderful introduction to university life for our students as they begin their journey of discovery which we hope will lead them to exciting new knowledge, new friendships and fulfilling careers.

Good morning. The new academic year is almost upon us.
 
In earlier editions of UWA Forward I have hinted at some exciting plans for 2017. The Executive and other Senior Leaders have taken the opportunity during January and early February, as we do annually, to revisit the University's strategic plan. Consideration has been given to UWA's core business, focusing on how we want to be known, how we interact with each other and the external environment.

Good morning. This week hails a cultural celebration on campus with both the Perth International Arts Festival and the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery’s 2017 season openings.

Founded by UWA in 1953, PIAF is a tremendous source of pride for our University and is now WA’s premier cultural event. Over the next month the campus and other venues across Perth will come to life with world class musicians, writers and actors all showcasing their talents for us to enjoy.
