Between 7am and approximately 8.30am on Thursday 24 November Campus Management will use a crane to remove an empty tank and two generators from the Electrical Engineering building (226). The crane will be placed at the side of car park 16 (off Fairway entry 2). There will be no access to the car park during this time.
Changeover work on the Crawley campus electricity substation has been completed successfully. The work will provide a safe and stable power supply to our campus buildings and was necessary because the old substation presented a risk to the campus power supply as it was nearing the end of its service life.
From Monday 19 September, the Physics liquid nitrogen tank relocation project will move into the construction phase.
The LN2 storage tank has been relocated to its temporary location and plumbed for reticulation. Works will now start on the construction of a protective shelter and storage facility for the LN2 tank and the relocation of the helium storage out of the building.
Unfortunately one of the large cork oaks (Quercus suber) on the Oak Lawn has had major root failure and collapsed. The tree has been identified by an arborist as a high risk due to its deteriorated state.
The main entrance of the Reid Library will be temporarily closed from 7am Monday 12 September to 4pm Friday 16 September, while works are underway to complete cladding the exterior portico of the new entrance.
Campus Management's Grounds team is undertaking aerating and overseeding on some areas of the campus grounds to improve the lawn area surfaces, Thursday 7 and Friday 8 July. These activites will be undertaken at James Oval, Oak Lawn, Great Court Lawn and the Sunken Garden (north of the Arts Building). Some areas will be required to be roped off to allow the seed to germinate.
