The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Hien Ngo to the position of Head of School and Dean, UWA Dental School and the Director of the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia. Professor Ngo will commence this position on 1 July 2020.

Professor Ngo is equipped with a combination of expertise in senior executive level administration, educational methodologies and translational research and has introduced transformational changes in both education and innovation, particularly in his roles at the Kuwait University and the University of Sharjah, where he currently serves as the Dean of the College of Dental Medicine and the Executive Director of the University Dental Hospital Sharjah. Professor Ngo also has experience at the University of Adelaide, the University of Queensland and the National University of Singapore.

After receiving a Master of Dental Surgery (Prosthodontics), Professor Ngo decided to stay in general practice as he enjoys its broad scope of practice. Professor Ngo is an active clinician with a weekly schedule of patients and spent the first two decades of his career in private dental practice in Adelaide.

The Faculty would like to take this opportunity to thank Professor Robert Anthonappa for the work he has performed in the capacity of Acting Head of School and Dean, UWA Dental School and the Director of the Oral Health Centre. Professor Anthonappa will continue in this role until Professor Ngo commences later this year.
