People are encouraged to carry loose change on Wednesday 20 March as costume-clad students from The University of Western Australia will hit the streets from 7am to sell the annual edition of the satirical PROSH student newspaper.

The students will be located in the Perth central business district as well as Claremont, Mount Lawley, Fremantle and Crawley rattling tins for PROSH’s 88th year running, with this year’s theme ‘PROSH Fiction’.

The students hope to raise more than $50,000 for their nominated charities – Guide Dogs WA, Red Frogs and the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. There will be some EFTPOS machines available for donations this year but not all sellers will have one.

PROSH, a UWA Student Guild initiative, is the oldest and most successful single-day charity event in the country run entirely by students.

The event has raised more than $1 million in the past decade and at least $2 million for a range of charities in its 88-year history.
