After becoming a world champion at just 16, student athlete Rahul Jegatheva knows what it means to compete with the best.

In Singapore, Rahul again found his stride, crowned the men’s elite champion and the Champion of Champions with a 27 second margin.

The feat becomes even more impressive when you recognise that the 17-year-old beat a field of over 1000 athletes including veterans of the Ironman circuits.

The young Western Australian continues to impress in his sport just as he begins his studies at UWA.

Rahul’s victory was his first overall elite win, putting him in good shape to defend his 19&U Australian national title in April before another assault on the Junior World title in Spain in May, having come so close in Denmark in 2018 when he clinched the silver at the Triathlon ITU Multisport World Championships.

Although he enjoyed his time in Singapore, Rahul declined to compete in the upcoming MetaSprint Series Duathlon and Triathlon, as he starts embarks on his first weeks at University.
