Congratulations to Faculty staff members for being awarded Australia Day Honours. The Australia Day 2019 Honours List was established in 1975 and recognises the contributions and service by outstanding individuals across Australia. A total of 1127 honours were presented this year.
Two Faculty staff members were awarded the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service in a particular locality or field of activity or to a particular group.
- Professor David Forbes
Awarded for his “significant service to medicine in the field of paediatric gastroenterology”.
Professor Forbes is a Clinical Professor with the UWA Medical School, Deputy Board Chair at North Metropolitan Health Service and former Acting Chief Medical Officer for the Department of Health.
- Professor Jeffrey Hamdorf
Awarded for “service to medical education and to medicine in the field of bariatric surgery”.
Professor Hamdorf is UWA’s Professor of Surgical Education and Director of CTEC and a founding Director of the Bariatrics Australia Research Centre.
- Congratulations to MBBS ’85 UWA graduate Dr Graham Forward who also received an AM.
