UWA Winthrop Professor of Marketing, Jill Sweeney, was recently awarded the ANZMAC Distinguished Researcher of the Year Award at the 2018 ANZMAC Conference Gala Awards Dinner, hosted by the University of Adelaide at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Wednesday 5 December 2018.

The Australian and New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) is a community of practice in the field of research in marketing; providing forums, publication outlets, and support systems for members and recognising the extensive contributions to the marketing discipline. 2018 was a significant year for ANZMAC as they celebrated their 20th birthday.

The University of Adelaide hosted the 2018 ANZMAC Doctoral Colloquium, an annual event supporting all doctoral students in their thesis topics, publications and career development as well as offering an exciting social program, an event which concludes with the Conference Gala Awards Dinner. The conference theme in 2018 was “Connect, Engage, Transform” and showcased research from academics in Australia, New Zealand and Europe as well as other countries.

The ANZMAC Distinguished Researcher of the Year Award is awarded in recognition of a lifetime of achievement in scholarly research across publications, grants and contributions to the international marketing research community as well as contribution to the ANZMAC community over a career.

In response to her award, Winthrop Professor Sweeney said, “It is a great honour to receive this award, I have enjoyed my career and worked with many wonderful co-authors whom should share this honour.”
