The University of Western Australia recently welcomed 22 of Australia’s newest citizens from 16 countries and their families pledging their commitment to Australia.

It was the first time UWA had hosted a citizenship ceremony, with the ceremony also marking Australian Citizenship Day – 17 September 2018.

The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of WA and UWA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dawn Freshwater helped mark the special occasion.

The ceremony was delivered by Auspire – the Australia Day Council WA -  as part of a new UWA community partnerships agreement, and was supported by the Department of Home Affairs.
