Friday marked the closing day of the 2018 Australian Nationals Div 1, with UWA gaining four pennants across the week of competition.
Athletics competitor Chloe Metcalf took home two medals, winning the gold in javelin with a 42.28m throw and bronze in the 200m sprint with a time of 25.75. Also on the athletics track, Sarah Hynes finished 800m in 2:18.43 to take out the bronze.
On the beach, our beach volleyball pair Greg and Ryan only lost one set all week and took out the gold in a fast-paced match against University of Queensland.
There was a strong team spirit this year, with entire teams using the breaks between their games to watch and support other UWA teams. Fencer Alanah McLaurin said “It’s been a really good team vibe from UWA this year, we’ve been really supportive of each other and it’s been fantastic!”
