The sun is shining on the Gold Coast and University Nationals Div 1 is now in full swing!

The women’s Ultimate team are off to a great start, winning their first match against University of Wollongong 12-2 and finishing the day with two nail-biting losses against University of Sydney (7-8) and Deakin University (6-7). Men’s Ultimate have also started strong with a one-point loss to reigning champions University of New South Wales and another close finish to USYD (8-10).

On the beach, our men’s volleyball pair are two from two with spectacular wins against Federation University Australia (2-0) and Edith Cowan University (2-0).

Despite high energy and spirits the women’s volleyball team went down in three straight sets to UNSW, USYD and University of the Sunshine Coast. On the other court, men’s basketball led most of the game against University of South Australia but were overtaken in the final minutes, going down 49-53. Our men and women’s futsal teams both also suffered losses despite a great effort by all.

On the athletics field Sarah Hynes finished in the top 10 for her 100m, 400m, 800m and long jump heats, and Chloe Metcalf finished in the top 20 for 100m, 200m and javelin. In fencing both Alanah Mclaurin and Junghan Shuan Lim finished well in the Epee and Sabre individual events.
