The Australian rowing team has enjoyed a strong performance at the World Rowing Cup in Linz-Ottensheim, Austria.

The men’s and women’s fours both won gold medals, while the women’s quadruple scull and women’s eight both won bronze.

UWA Boat Club rower James Kerr joined the lightweight quadruple scull team as they pushed towards the men’s A-Final.

James first represented Australia in the lightweight men's quadruple scull at the 2016 World Rowing U23 Championships.

Recording the third fastest time in the heats, the Australian team reached the final featuring reigning World Champions Italy as well as Germany, Norway, Austria and Hungary.

At the halfway mark, Italy had a solid lead, with Germany in second and Australia pushing past home favourites, Austria, for third.

As the crews pushed for the line, it was the sprint for the bronze medal between Australia, Austria and Norway that drew the most excitement, with Norway sprinting up the outside to take bronze over Australia by just 0.58 of a second.
