Australian student-athletes and universities will be promoted on the national stage as part of a groundbreaking partnership.

UniSport has today announced a broadcasting deal with two of the country’s leading sports coverage organisations: Fox Sports and Power Productions.

The partnership will see Fox Sports and Power Productions cover the UniSport Nationals Div 1 and 2, presented by UniBank, with five 90-minute television programs in September and October.

UniSport CEO Don Knapp said this new venture into television coverage will showcase the breadth of university student-athlete talent across the country.

“Australian universities have experienced tremendous growth in sport programs on campus, fueling desire by student-athletes and national sporting bodies for a high profile and quality national university sporting competition,” Mr Knapp said.

“A key driver behind this partnership is enabling talented Australian student-athletes to showcase their universities.”

“The opportunity to televise Nationals Div 1 and 2 is a product of the Nationals’ increased alignment with National Sporting Organisations, its position in the dual career education and sport pathway, and the increased profile the event series is attracting.”

The UniSport Nationals is Australia’s largest multi-sport event series for university student-athletes, and enables student-athletes at UniSport’s 42 member universities to represent their university in a nationally-regarded competition.

Rivalry under the two-division format is expected to be fierce with the top two teams from each sport in the Div 2 competition promoted into Div 1.

In addition to the televised programs, the broadcast partnership will see finals from Nationals Div 1 and 2 streamed through UniSport’s website and social media, and also includes coverage of the Aon Women’s Uni 7s finals and semi-finals in September.

Live stream dates (via the UniSport website and Facebook):

Nationals Div 2: Thursday 5 July
Aon Women’s Uni 7s: Sunday 23 September
Nationals Div 1: Thursday 27 September

UniSport invites member universities and National Sporting Organisations to participate in the live streaming events and to stream via their own websites and social media channels.

UniSport also invites commercial partnership applications to support the production and delivery of both the live streaming and broadcast programs. In return, UniSport offers a comprehensive suite of benefits, as well as additional tailor-made opportunities to ensure your organisation receives maximum coverage.

Power Productions, established for 27 years, is one of Australia’s most diverse and prominent television production companies, producing hundreds of hours of live streaming each year as well as supplying numerous television networks with content.

Power Productions’ managing director, David Tapp, says UniSport has done a tremendous job in upping the ante in 2018.

“Full credit to UniSport CEO Don Knapp and his team for introducing an extensive live streaming and television coverage platform for this year’s Nationals Div 1,” Tapp said.

“We can’t wait to assist Don and his hard working team in dramatically lifting the profile of what is a very important event on the national sporting landscape.”
