Friday, 8 June 2018

Good afternoon. Last week, I travelled to the Pilbara to meet students and teachers from Tom Price Senior High School and Newman Senior High School, two partners in the Aspire UWA program.

Through this program we partner with several schools in regional WA to raise students’ tertiary education aspirations; it was wonderful to talk to all involved and hear about the positive impact Aspire UWA is having on these communities.

The Hon Paul Papalia (Minister for Tourism; Racing and Gaming; Small Business; Defence Issues; Citizenship and Multicultural Interests) was on campus today to learn more about the University’s defence science expertise. Later in the week he will lead a discussion on tourism and international education, key areas for UWA.
