The WA Innovator of the Year competition is an initiative of the Western Australian Government's New Industries Fund providing support to innovators and entrepreneurs across our State.
UWA researchers with innovations in development at UWA are encouraged to discuss applying by contacting UWA's Research Commercialisation Team.
The overall competition winner will receive a prize of $75,000 cash and winners of the emerging category (pre-revenue) and growth category (revenue generating) categories will receive $25,000 each. There are also four $10,000 encouragement awards.
The competition also supports innovators through building capability in commercialisation training and mentoring.
Examples of UWA’s previous winning entries include:
- A novel treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD)
- A ‘seed flamer’ device to assist with better minesite revegetation
- Microscope-in-a-needle
