Following the legislative changes to the UWA Act approved by State Parliament last year, the number of UWA Senate members elected by Convocation has been reduced from four to two positions.  As a result, three of the current members of the UWA Senate elected by the UWA Convocation were contesting only one position in the 2018 elections.

The results of this election were announced at the Autumn meeting of the Convocation with Mr Simon Dawkins being re-elected to the Senate for a further 3-year term.  The University wishes to thank Ms Hilary Silbert and Mr Quang Ly for their contribution to the UWA Senate during their respective terms.

At the same meeting of the Convocation, Dr Doug McGhie was re-elected for another term as the Warden of Convocation and Dr Joan Pope OAM was re-elected for a further term as the Deputy Warden of the University.

They, together with the other 21 elected members of Convocation Council will now continue to represent the 130,000 graduates of UWA in their role as lifelong members of the University.  A key initiative for the coming 12 months will be to contribute to the development of UWA’s Strategic Vision 2030 as outlined by the Vice-Chancellor at the meeting.

Further information regarding the Autumn Meeting of the Convocation including the Vice-Chancellors report and the Q&A session is available from the Convocation website.

The Annual Report for UWA was tabled in State Parliament on 22 March 2018 and is now publicly available on the website of the WA Parliament.
